Granite has its origin deep in the earth’s molten mantle. As this extremely hot liquid material rises and cools, it forms a crystalline, granular structure, hence the term granite. Granite is formed of hard minerals such as quartz, feldspar and mica, which are fused together into a very hard stone over millions of years. Once formed, granite blocks up to the size 10’x10’x12’ are removed from the earth then cut into slabs normally ¾” to 1 ¼” thick, highly polished on surface, bundled together and shipped on containers to our warehouse from around the world. Because of its uniqueness, no two slabs are alike.
Granite is ideal for kitchen counters because its polish is resistant to
household acids such as citrus and vinegar and is hard enough to resist scratching from knives and typical kitchen heat from pots and pans. The heat and cuts will never penetrate granite. Granite has an extensive color range matched only by its durability and long life. Granite tops are economical and comparable to many man-made alternatives, such as Corian. Granite and marble can be used in a variety of areas such as fireplaces, kitchens, bars, tables, desks, bathroom vanities, walls, floors, jacuzzis, and entryways. These materials add unique beauty and elegance to any home. Marble is available in many colors for the discriminate buyer.
